version 1) ANNOUNCEMENT VERSION Wolf Aviation Fund Grant Proposals Due December 15Funding supports research, aviation education, public service work, airport outreach, and more! Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 23, 2010. The December 15 deadline is rapidly approaching! The Wolf Aviation Fund aids many programs and projects promoting and supporting General Aviation. Grants support individuals and groups doing great work shaping the future of aviation. Full information is available at www.wolf-aviation.org.
2) SHORT NEWS STORY VERSION Wolf Aviation Fund Grant Proposals Due December 15Funding supports aviation education, public service work, airport outreach, and more Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 23, 2010. The December 15 deadline is rapidly approaching for Wolf Aviation Fund grant proposals! Each year the Fund provides help for innovative projects that "promote and support general aviation." Projects must fit into the foundation's seven major program areas, which are Developing Public Policy and Airports; Networking and Mutual Support; Development and Alternative Resources; Communications, Media, and Community Relations; General Aviation Technology, Safety, and Noise; Improving Public Understanding and Perception; and Aviation and Space Education. More than 275 projects have been funded to date, many of which have led to the existence of new organizations or have supported projects which continue today.
- development of an innovative light weight gondola for high altitude balloon research - a school challenge program developing a new Light Sport Aircraft design - a seed grant promoting the Swift Sustainable Aviation Fuel project - an aviation careers classroom designed by Catavia Kids for the NAS Wildwood Museum - to the successful Youth Aviation Adventure program for development of a manual enabling programs at other airports - a guidebook for those who enjoy combining flying with camping - a development grant for the unique MOTOPOD ground transport concept for aircraft - a seed grant to develop the Whispertrack aviation noise abatement procedure database and program - to Challenge Air for Kids to develop its Fly Day programs for disabled and disadvantage children - to the Build a Plane program to support its hosting of Teachers Day at AirVenture 2010 - regional teachers' workshops to spread aviation education across Alaska - flight and patient matching systems and related software for two charitable aviation groups. These and the many other projects supported by the Wolf Aviation Fund promise to encourage youth to become involved in flying, improve the public's understanding of aviation and airports, develop new technologies, and lead our industry into the future. Proposals often received partial support, because by providing partial funding as challenge grants the recipients then could use the honor and recognition of a Wolf Aviation Fund grant to approach others and seek additional funding. This approach permits more projects to receive grants and has proven quite successful. We encourage all aviation supporters to look for those who have won Wolf Aviation Fund awards, and to provide them additional support. The Foundation is working to increase the funding available for projects since there were many good ideas that could not be funded.
